Man stabbed during attempted robbery in downtown Montreal

A 20-year-old man is recovering in hospital after he was stabbed in the lower body during a failed robbery.

Police said it happened at around 3 a.m. on Saturday, near Cabot Square, at the intersection of Tupper and Lambert-Closse streets in downtown Montreal.

According to police, the suspect, a 23-year-old man, approached another man and tried to steal a jewel he was wearing.

An altercation ensued and the victim was stabbed.

He was rushed to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was arrested at the scene and is expected to meet with investigators later in the day Saturday.
