The inflation rate in Saskatchewan edged up slightly in July.
Statistics Canada reported Friday the yearly inflation rate was 0.8 per cent, up 0.3 points from June.

Higher prices were reported in seven of the eight major components tracked by Statistics Canada.
Food prices rose 1.2 per cent, led by a 10.9 per cent increase in fresh vegetables and an 8.1 per cent increase in the cost of fresh fruits.
Nationally, the annual inflation rate was 1.2 per cent, with higher prices for gasoline being one of the biggest contributors.

That wasn’t the case in Saskatchewan, where gas prices were 0.1 per cent lower than a year ago.
