RCMP say they plan to step up patrols after racist graffiti was sprayed on several signs in the town of Neepawa.

Photos provided by the RCMP show a racist slur targeting the Filipino population sprayed on a sign welcoming visitors to the town, about 200 km west of Winnipeg.

Sgt. Mark Morehouse has worked in the area for several years and said he has never seen something like this.

He said the RCMP plan to expand patrols in the area.
