In less than a week, there have been five reported cases of a suspicious man approaching women in Lower Sackville, N.S.

On Wednesday afternoon, a woman was waiting at a bus stop outside Sobeys on Downsview Drive when she was approached by a man that she says tried to pull her into his vehicle.

The woman is so shaken up by the incident that she doesn’t want her name used but has decided to speak to Global News about what happened to her.

The victim says the unknown man pulled up near her and asked her for directions to Cunard Street in Halifax. She says he told her that he couldn’t get his GPS to work and handed her his phone to put an address in Google Maps for him.

“As I went to grab the phone, he grabbed my arm. Not hard, but enough I think he grabbed me and realized in just the same amount of time that he wasn’t going to be able to get me in through the window because the car door wasn’t opened,” said the woman.

“It looked like he knew what he was doing after it was all over and I got thinking about it.”

In total, there have been five reported incidents of a suspicious man in a vehicle approaching woman who have either been walking down the street or waiting for a bus near the transit terminal on Walker Avenue.

In all of the cases, the man asked for directions before trying to get the women into his vehicle.

“It’s scary,” said the woman.

“We need this guy caught before he gets somebody younger or completely willing to get in the car because that’s what he attempted first, you know, ‘can you take me there, can you help me get there.'”

The suspect is described as having short dark hair, a dark complexion and was driving a green or blue hatchback.

RCMP say they are worried about the man’s behaviour.

“No one knows what this man’s intentions are but himself and in these situations again, he’s offered to drive people, suggested they get in the vehicle with him,” said Cpl. Dal Hutchinson.

“It is disturbing to think that there’s someone out there keeping an eye and watching women as they walk down the sidewalk.”

Monday afternoon, RCMP confirmed they were investigating after a man — with the same description — followed a 16-year-old girl from the bus stop in Lower Sackville on Sunday afternoon to her apartment building.

At this time, police have no one in custody and are asking for the public’s help.

“If you are approached by a total stranger and you’re walking on the sidewalk and you feel it may be the same person that we’re investigating, most people carry cell phones nowadays that have video or camera capacity, so we’re asking people if they can to get a picture of the individual or more importantly, get a picture of their license plate, however at the same time not putting themselves at risk,” Hutchinson said.
