WINNIPEG – The rain didn’t dampen the spirits, or slow the steps, of hundreds of Winnipeggers who gathered Wednesday to participate in what’s being called Canada’s largest round dance.
Across the country Canadians joined hands in eight different cities at the exact same hour, 12 pm CST, as part of celebrations for National Aboriginal Day.
Round dances were also held in Vancouver, Edmonton, Yellowknife, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax.
Winnipeg’s round dance was held at the Forks, with many smiling through the rain as the moved together to the beat of the drums.
