A Manitoba man has been charged with multiple offences after a two-year-old girl was briefly missing from a northern Ontario home, prompting police to issue an AMBER Alert.

The OPP said in a statement that Rainy River district officers were called to Chapple Township, east of the Manitoba border, on Saturday with a report of a domestic dispute.

“Upon police arrival, officers learned that the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle in the company of a two-year-old female,” police said.

Police subsequently requested an AMBER Alert. Officers said they received information on where the man was. Police then arrested him and found the two-year-old girl in good health. The alert was cancelled around 7:30 a.m. ET Sunday.
