Heavy rain and spring runoff overwhelmed West Kelowna’s infrastructure on Wednesday night causing flooding to at least three properties.
The city’s system of ditches and culverts overflowed in the Glenrosa neighborhood washing out driveways on Glenrosa Road and causing flooding.
At least three residential properties were hit by flood waters in the area of Glenrosa Road and Lansbury Way.
One homeowner reported two inches of water in his basement. A neighbour’s home was significantly harder hit and had four feet of water in the basement.
The city’s engineering manager said utility workers, fire crews and staff from the local road contractor worked through the night to minimize the damage.
Thursday the city was repairing the ditch system and replacing culverts.
