A lengthy boil water notice that has been in effect in one Okanagan community has finally been lifted.
On Monday afternoon, the District of Summerland lifted the notice that went into effect in late February.
The entire town was told not to drink the tap water because of upgrades to the water delivery system. The major water improvement project shut down the chlorination system meaning residents had to boil their water for at least one minute before drinking it for two straight weeks,
The District says Summerland’s water meets the Canadian drinking water guidelines and test results have indicated that it is safe for consumption.
The District of Summerland thanks the residents and businesses for their patience demonstrated throughout this complex infrastructure project. It says community support has been
much appreciated.
