Vincent Massey Vikings and St. Mary’s Flames advance to provincial high school girls volleyball final

WINNIPEG – The championship game is set at the AAAA Girls High School Volleyball Provincial Championship.

The fifth seeded Vincent Massey Vikings out of Brandon upset the top seeded Westwood Warriors in straight sets in the semifinal at the University of Manitoba’s Investors Group Athletic Centre on Wednesday. The Vikings posted set wins of 25-15, 25-20, and 25-19 to dispose of the favourites. Kelsey Jordan was named the player of the game for Vincent Massey.

In the other semifinal matchup the second ranked St. Mary’s Flames blew past the third seeded Lord Selkirk Royals in straight sets. Julia Tayes was the Flames’ player of the game in the 25-12, 25-18, 25-6 victory.

The boys semifinals will go on Friday. The top ranked Lord Selkirk Royals will face the fifth seeded Vincent Massey Vikings. The other semifinal pits second seeded Dakota against the third seeded Miles Macdonell Buckeyes.

Both championship games will be played on Monday with the girls final to kick it off at 6:00 pm at the Investors Group Athletic Centre.
