Icy roads may have been a factor in a head-on crash on Highway 3 near Shellbrook, Sask., that left one person dead.
The crash between a car and semi happened Monday at around 6 p.m. CT approximately 20 kilometres west of Shellbrook.

Shellbrook RCMP said a passenger in the car, a 71-year-old man from the Shellbrook area, was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been released.
The driver of the car, a 67-year-old woman, was taken to hospital by paramedics with what police said were non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi was treated at the scene and released.
Police said the highway was extremely icy at the time due to rain.

Highway 3 was closed for several hours while Shellbrook RCMP carried out their investigation and cleared the scene. It has since re-opened.
Police continue to investigate.
Shellbrook is approximately 150 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
