UPDATE: Police confirm Nia Eastman killed by her father in Saskatchewan Amber Alert case
Concerns are being raised as to why an Amber Alert in Saskatchewan last week wasn’t on the province’s emergency alert system.
Last Thursday, an Amber Alert was issued for Nia Eastman, who was found hours later dead in her father’s Choiceland, Sask., home.

No notifications were sent to the public by the Saskatchewan emergency alert program when the Amber Alert was activated.
SaskAlert currently notifies the public about emergencies that could harm people or damage property including extreme weather conditions such as tornadoes and blizzards.
It also includes local emergencies such as evacuations and drinking water advisories.
Officials said while they are capable of issuing missing person information, the administration of the Amber Albert program falls under the jurisdiction of the RCMP.
RCMP officials said they will be issuing a statement on Tuesday addressing the situation.
