Alberta’s climate change plan will be front and centre next week when politicians return to the legislature for the fall sitting.

Government house leader Brian Mason says legislation will be introduced to further the government’s climate leadership program.

Mason says there will be legislation to cap oilsands greenhouse gas emissions at 100 megatonnes a year.

There will also be more details on the plan to move away from coal-fired electricity towards renewable forms of energy.

The province has promised to end all coal-fired electricity generation by 2030.

Mason says there will also be two new tax credits to spur the economy and an update on job creation initiatives.
