One person was killed and several others were injured in a collision in Sherwood Park Thursday morning.
The RCMP believe an SUV travelling west on Baseline Road was hit when a car travelling north on Glenbrook Blvd. went through a flashing red light at the intersection of Baseline Road and Brower Driver at around 4:50 a.m.
One of the passengers in the car died at the scene. Two other passengers in the vehicle were taken to hospital with serious injuries and the driver was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The collision caused the closure of Baseline Road in both directions near the crash, but the eastbound lanes were re-opened by 7:30 a.m.
A peace officer with Strathcona County Services tweeted at 8:40 a.m. Baseline Road had re-opened.
No details have been released about the cause of the crash.
