Online date leads to abduction charges in Peachland

"This is the holiday season and hackers and fraudsters are hard at work trying to scam individuals to essentially click on stuff and get your hard-earned money,". Global News

A report of an abduction out of Peachland might make you think twice about online-dating.

On August 13, the West Kelowna RCMP received a report of a forcible confinement the night before.

Police say a woman made contact with a man online, and had met him in person a few times.

On August 12, RCMP say the pair met up again, but this time the man refused to let the woman out of his vehicle, driving around for several hours before finally releasing her.

Police say the woman was injured during the incident, but not seriously.

RCMP began looking for a 36 year old man, driving a silver 2000 Dodge Durango with Alberta license plates.

Using a Air Services’ fixed wing aircraft, the vehicle was located, and the man arrested without incident on August 18.
