One man has died in a targeted shooting in Abbotsford overnight and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over.
Just after 9 p.m. Wednesday, Abbotsford police responded to a report of shots being fired in the 3100-block of Crown Court.
When police arrived at the scene they found a man that was injured from apparent gunshot wounds.
The victim, who has been identified as 45-year-old Abbotsford resident Gurdev “Dave”Hair, was loaded into an ambulance where CPR was performed but he died of his injuries just before 10 p.m.
IHIT is said that although the investigation is in the early stages, evidence gathered so far the shooting appears to be targeted and not a random act of violence.
Hair is known to police but IHIT Cpl. Meghan Foster said in a statement “it’s too early to tell if the homicide is linked to an ongoing conflict.”
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the IHIT tipline at 1-877-551-4448 or Crime Stoppers.
