A memorial in honour of a fallen Vancouver Island RCMP officer is being formally unveiled today.

The granite plaque was installed earlier this month outside of the West Shore RCMP Detachment, paying tribute to Cst. Sarah Beckett.

The mother of two was killed in April when her police cruiser was hit by a pickup truck.

The circumstances surrounding that fatal crash are still being investigated.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the ceremony today at the detachment.
