Earlier on Monday, John Ridsdel, a former mining executive and journalist, was confirmed dead after being held captive by Islamic militants since September. The militants were also holding three other people captive, including another Canadian.
“Albertans join the world community in condemning this monstrous act in the strongest possible terms,” Notley’s statement read. “Albertans of every faith pray for the rescue of the remaining hostages.”
