CALGARY – A 12-year-old boy was rushed to hospital with potentially life-threatening head injuries Thursday evening after he was struck by a van in a marked crosswalk.
The boy was trying to cross Castleridge Boulevard at Westwinds Drive N.E. just after 6:30 p.m. when the collision occurred.
According to witnesses, the boy was trying to cross against the traffic control light.
The driver of the van remained at the scene and police closed the road down while they investigated.
The boy’s condition has since been upgraded to stable.
