WINNIPEG – The Manitoba Moose named defenceman Josh Morrissey the club’s winner of the AHL Man of the Year award.

The honour recognizes the outstanding contributions to the Manitoba community during the 2015-16 season.

Morrissey, 21, was a big part of the Moose “Stick to Reading” campaign. He also took it upon himself to set up a meet and greet with children from the Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation after each and every Moose home game. Morrissey purchases the tickets to the games and then donates them to the foundation. So far this season he’s helped over 200 children attend his after game sessions.

The Winnipeg Jets’ 13th overall draft pick in the 2013 NHL draft has three goals and 19 assists in 57 games this season. He hasn’t played since getting injured on March 7.

Morrissey is now one of 30 finalists for the AHL’s 2015-16 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award. Jimmy Roy is the only member of the Moose to ever win the honour after getting recognized with the award during the 2002-03 season.
