Bombardier to cut 7,000 jobs

Earlier this week, Bombardier announced  it will cut its workforce by 7,000 employees over the next two years.

Over 2,400 of those workers are in Quebec, mostly in the greater Montreal area.

Global Montreal’s senior anchor Jamie Orchard sits down with McGill business professor and aviation expert Karl Moore to discuss the impact of those cuts.

Geordie Productions celebrates arrival of new artistic director

Over the past 35 years Geordie Productions has staged hundreds of plays in Montreal and across Quebec.

Founded by Elsa Bolam , Geordie was created to cater to children  but recently rebranded itself as theatre for all audiences.

The company’s mission is to stage thought-provoking productions for children and adults alike.

They then tour those shows across Quebec, to regions that would otherwise have no access to the arts.

Now, the third largest English-language theatre company in Quebec is celebrating the arrival of its third artistic director, Mike Payette.

Pointe-Claire Village

The future of one of the oldest settlements on the Island of Montreal is at the centre of a growing debate.

The city of Pointe-Claire held a public consultation on the revitalization of its historic village Wednesday.

Pamela Plumb, founder of Friends of the village dropped by Focus Montreal studios to share her group’s concerns and talk about how the project could jeopardize the village’s unique character.
