Kelowna RCMP takedown – Jan 24, 2016

A series of bizarre incidents led to a dramatic takedown on Sunset Drive in Kelowna Sunday morning.

RCMP say they received multiple calls about a man acting violently and bleeding from the head.

Residents of a townhome reported the man crashed through a large window and came into their home.

When police arrived, the man was out on the street and being combative.

Several RCMP vehicles were called to the scene to help with the takedown.

“I do know that…a taser may have been used,” said Sgt. Brad Swecera, “as well as other devices such as pepper spray.”

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.

Sgt. Swecera says the man knew the people who lived in the home he broke into, and he doesn’t believe there is any risk to the public.

“We still don’t understand why he acted the way he did,” said Swecera.  “There may be drugs involved, mental disability, we don’t know.”

RCMP say they are considering a multitude of charges.
