LONDON, Ont. – A man charged with impaired driving in a crash which killed a young woman on Western University’s campus in London, Ont., is expected to plead guilty next month.

Eighteen-year-old Andrea Christidis died in hospital two days after she was hit by a vehicle which jumped a curb while she was walking on campus in October.

Police had originally charged 24-year-old Jared DeJong with charges including dangerous driving causing bodily harm and impaired operation causing bodily harm.

Following Christidis’ death, DeJong’s charges were upgraded to impaired driving causing death, criminal negligence causing death and operating a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.

DeJong’s lawyer says his client will plead guilty at a court appearance set for Feb. 17.
