After five years in operation, Camp Arrowflight in Armstrong is closing its doors.

The outdoor adventure camp, operated by the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club, offered subsidized activities for kids who may not have a chance to experience camp life otherwise. It was also the home of Kindale’s summer camp for adults with developmental disabilities.

In a release on its website, the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club says it can no longer afford to subsidize Camp ArrowFlight and its property costs, so it’s decided to sell.

“This is not a decision that we made lightly. It has been very difficult to come to terms with saying goodbye, but it is the right decision for the organization.”

The Okanagan Boys and Girls Club will still run outdoor programs for kids next summer including what it calls ‘new and exciting opportunities for 2016’.
