WINNIPEG — Winnipeg Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien has been chosen to play in the 2016 NHL All-Star game in Nashville later this month.

Byfuglien is one of 11 players that will make up the Central Division team in the newly formatted three-on-three tournament. He has been named to the last four All-Star Games but couldn’t play in 2012 due to an injury. Byfuglien has nine goals and 14 assists in 40 games this season.

The Jets leading scorer Blake Wheeler did not receive an invitation to the All-Star Game despite sitting seventh in the league when it comes to points with 40 (10 goals and 30 assists) in 40 games.

Joining Byfuglien on the Central Division Team is Winnipegger Jonathan Toews. The Chicago Blackhawk will participate in his fifth career All-Star Game. Toews has racked up 14 goals and 12 assists in 41 games this year.
