Possible connection between 2 Saskatoon armed robberies

SASKATOON – Police say an attempted armed robbery and an armed robbery two blocks apart may be connected. Both happened Wednesday evening within minutes of each other.

The attempted armed robbery happened around 9:20 p.m. CT at a restaurant in the 300-block of Idylwyld Drive. Staff told Saskatoon police that a man armed with a machete attempted to pry open a cash register. He was unsuccessful and fled when he was confronted by staff.

Ten minutes later, police were called to a gas station in the 200-block of Avenue B North. Staff told police a masked man carrying a machete stole cash and cigarettes.

The suspect was wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans, black and grey shoes, grey gloves and a white shirt.
