Regina woman unveils 1,008 painting art project

REGINA – A Regina woman’s month-long road trip through the states with her husband inspired a very ambitious artistic endeavor.

Edie Marshall’s exhibit “Terrain” opened on Wednesday at the Art Gallery of Regina. Over the past two-and-a-half years, Marshall painted 1,008 pictures for the project.

The paintings follow her journey in chronological order, starting in Manitoba, going down to Arizona, and then back north to Saskatchewan.

She said she wanted to make a real world Instagram with the paintings.

“As I scrolled through these images after we returned home, there were over 1,500 of them to begin with, and I started to wonder what I should do with them,” said Marshall.

“Scrolling through them I really, really liked the subtle changes and the colours and the textures as I scrolled through, and then started thinking what would the visual impact be if these were paintings?”
