JAX, Ont. – A 56-year-old Ajax man is facing charges after allegedly plotting to kidnap a Toronto businessman.
Durham Regional Police say they arrested Mahmud Fahad on Tuesday after investigating the plot that allegedly surfaced last month.
Police say Fahad placed an ad online seeking a bodyguard, but allege he planned to conspire with the person he hired to abduct the businessman.
Police allege he then planned to use the businessman’s banking information to steal money.
Fahad is now facing charges of council to commit kidnapping and council to commit robbery.
Police say they want to make sure no one else has responded to the online ad and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
