As various agencies prepare to welcome hundreds of Syrian refugees to B.C., a local organization is collecting medical equipment for Syrians overseas.
The people behind Medical Aid For Syrians are accepting donations at Vancouver City Hall today.
The goal is to send large shipments of medical supplies to Syrians in need. They’re looking for items like wheelchairs, splints, oxygen masks and unexpired medications. Cash donations are also welcome.

The supplies are shipped to hospitals – but in many cases the buildings have been bombed – so doctors work wherever they can.
El-Safadi hopes to ship the supplies before Christmas.
