UPDATE: The northbound lanes of Highway 99 have now been re-opened. BC Ambulance says two people are in hospital in serious condition as the result of the crash. RCMP told Global News no fatalities have been reported.
A multi-vehicle crash in Richmond has closed Highway 99 northbound, with only one lane now getting through.
Two people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
There are five vehicles involved in the crash, including a semi-truck.
It appears that two vehicles have left the road.
Highway 99 is closed at Steveston Highway to Highway 91 and drivers are asked to use Steveston Highway as an alternative.
Traffic in the area is heavily backed up to the Highway 17 interchange in Delta.
