TORONTO – A man is in custody after a fatal hit-and-run in Brampton, Ont. late Saturday night.
Peel police say an 18-year-old woman was crossing the street near Bonnie Braes Drive and Kimborough Hollow just before 11 p.m. when she was hit by a vehicle, which then fled the scene.
The woman was rushed to hospital with critical injuries but was later pronounced dead.
The driver surrendered to police Sunday morning.
Steven Richards, 26, is charged with failure to remain at the scene of an accident causing death.
He is due to appear in a Brampton court Sunday.
Police have not identified the victim at this time.
