TORONTO – The Toronto Transit Commission will increase service during off-peak times on certain bus and streetcar routes starting Sunday.

Service on the 165 Weston Rd North and 96 Wilson will have 10 minute or better service and the 504 King and 96 Wilson will see reduced off-peak crowding.

“We certainly have heard from our riders that we need enhancements to a lot of our bus and streetcar service because it is so well used,” said TTC Chair Josh Colle.

“The Board has made the decision and staff has worked hard to make sure we can direct additional resources to some of our busiest routes so we can make service more frequent and more reliable.”

The service enhancements come as part of the TTC’s budgeted service improvements for 2015 as part of a $95 million investment from city council.

Colle also said by the end of 2015, four new express bus routes will come to the TTC.

“They will  be on heavily travelled and trafficked routes and connect people in a really efficient and cost effective way,” Colle said.

“Those will be introduced soon and I think they will be very successful and they can become a template for looking to do that in more parts of the city.”
