WINNIPEG — Two men were seriously assaulted and robbed on Jarvis Avenue on Sunday.
Three people were confronted by a group of men as they exited a building in the 100 block of Jarvis Avenue around 9:30 p.m. One of the suspects produced a gun and demanded one of the three victims, a 23-year-old man, to hand over his personal property. The two other victims attempted to intervene but were stopped by the armed suspect who threatened them further.
The suspects then assaulted one of the other victims, a 28-year-old male to the point of unconsciousness. He was then robbed of cash and other personal property.
Suspects encountered a 43-year-old male in the same area who had attended to help the previous victims. The 43-year-old man was seriously assaulted in the upper body. He was later transported to hospital with extensive injuries. He’s now in stable condition but it’s expected he’ll face a lengthy recovery.
At approximately 11 p.m. two suspects were arrested. Christopher Lee Chubb, 27, faces many charges including armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm. Matthew Harold Woodhouse, 19, was also arrested and faces charges including armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon.
The investigation is still ongoing by members of the Major Crimes Unit as they search for one more suspect.
