WATCH: Winnipeg Jets react to 3-0 loss to Philadelphia Flyers

WINNIPEG – Home wasn’t so sweet for the Winnipeg Jets (8-5-2) on Saturday as they were blanked 3-0 by the Philadelphia Flyers (5-6-3) in their only game at MTS Centre in a nineteen day stretch.

The Flyers used the power play to their advantage to help snap a six-game losing streak. Former Brandon Wheat King Brayden Schenn opened the scoring less than six minutes into the first period with Jets forward Alexander Burmistrov in the penalty box for tripping.

Winnipeg captain Andrew Ladd tried to spark his team in the second period with a fight against R.J. Umberger. Ladd went after the Philadelphia forward after he knocked Blake Wheeler with a high hit in the neutral zone.

Philadelphia added to its lead in the third period with another power play goal, this time from Wayne Simmonds. The right winger tapped in a Claude Giroux rebound past a down-and-out Ondrej Pavelec for his second of the season. Matt Read sealed the win with less than two minutes to play with an empty net goal.

Winnipeg defenceman Paul Postma finished with two shots, two hits and 10:35 of ice time in his season debut.

The Jets now head back on the road for a six-game swing through the Central Division starting Tuesday night in Minnesota against the Wild.
