Brandon will help play a significant role in deciding Canada’s 2018 Olympic curling teams.

The Western Manitoba city will host the 2016 Home Hardware Canada Cup from November 30 to December 4, 2016 at the Keystone Centre. The bonspiel will see the top curling teams in the country compete for a berth to the 2017 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings Canadian Curling Trials which will determine who will wear the maple leaf at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.

“Brandon has a rich curling history,” said Hugh Avery, Chair of the Curling Canada Board of Governors. “With the PyeongChang Olympics getting closer every day, the competitive environment in Brandon will be extremely intense and curling fans will be in for a treat.”

The Canada Cup marks the first Curling Canada event to be held in Brandon since 2002. The Wheat City has previously hosted two Briers (1963 and 1982), two Scotties Tournament of Hearts (1993 and 2002), the 1989 Canadian mixed championship, the 1995 Ford World Men’s and Women’s Championships and the 1997 Canadian Curling Trials.
