Man arrested twice after entering middle school and daycare to sing Justin Bieber songs to kids

A West Virginia man was arrested twice Tuesday after trying to sing Justin Bieber songs to children at a middle school and, later in the day, a daycare.

The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports that D’laontie Dee Lewis, 26, entered Dunbar Middle School in South Charleston Tuesday along with late-arriving students. He headed straight for the office to interrupt morning announcements with the alleged intention of telling students that Canadian megastar Justin Bieber had arrived to sing to them.

Gilliam says Lewis’ family did alert school officials to the possibility of an incident a day earlier. A WOWK report claims the family mentioned Lewis was “off his meds” while police and Gilliam both reported erratic behaviour.

Detective J.A. Payne confirmed Lewis did not have a weapon.

The school was placed under lockdown, as a precaution, for about 30 minutes until the incident was resolved. South Charleston police took Lewis into custody, cited him for marijuana possession and brought him to Thomas Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

That’s when the incident seems to have repeated itself.

At approximately 2:15 p.m., police responded to the Kiddie College daycare, located within the First Church of the Nazarene, moments after Lewis exited the hospital and headed a few blocks west.

A criminal complaint was filed, according to WCHS, stating he “wanted to speak to the children as Justin Bieber and [said] that he could see them because he was Jesus.”

Lewis allegedly began yelling and cursing to show his displeasure as he was escorted out of the daycare. He was charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct and was arraigned later Tuesday afternoon.
