R.A. Dickey will start Game 4 of the American League Division Series if the Blue Jays manage to extend the series with a win tonight.
Manager John Gibbons confirmed Sunday that the knuckleballer will get the start for Toronto while Game 1 starter David Price may pitch out of the bullpen in a possible fourth game.

While the Jays are on the brink of elimination, Dickey was confident that the team would live to see another day.
“In my mind, [Game 4] is a certainty.”

Staff ace Price was considered a speculative starter for Monday’s game, although he’d be pitching on just four days’ rest. The left-hander lost the series opener on Thursday, giving up five earned runs and running his postseason record to 0-6.
Toronto’s bullpen took a hit in Friday’s loss when the Brett Cecil suffered a torn calf muscle, putting a premature end to a strong season.

Dickey has been dominant since the all-star break, sporting a stingy 2.80 earned run average, and Gibbons said he’s been “one of the best pitchers in baseball.”
“He throws that knuckleball and (when) he’s on, he’s awful tough to hit.”
Boasting a slightly better 2.78 ERA is Marco Estrada, who takes the hill for the Jays Sunday night.
