TORONTO — Barrie police are thanking a suspect for leaving a knapsack behind at the scene of a break-and-enter in the city.
Police responded to the break-and-enter just after 5 a.m. on Thursday at a home on Bear Creek Drive in Barrie.
An unknown suspect broke into the home through a basement window while the homeowner was asleep and located a laptop, iPad Mini and purse.
The homeowner was woken up by the noise and saw the suspect escape through a bathroom window and immediately called 911.
“Police would like to thank the suspect for leaving his/her Roots knapsack behind,” a release read, adding that the bag was seized for examination.
“Evidence collected at the scene has provided police with further information, which will lead to the identity of the suspect.”
