Calgary man charged with taxi carjackings in Forest Lawn

CALGARY – Police have charged a Calgary man with two taxi robberies in Forest Lawn.

The first carjacking occurred in the 2200 block of 47 Street S.E. at around 1 a.m. on Friday, August 14.

The suspect threatened the driver with a weapon and forced him to exit his vehicle. Afterward, the suspect took off in the cab. No one was injured.

The second carjacking happened a week later in the 2300 block of 46 Street S.E. around 2:30 a.m.

The suspect produced a knife and demanded money from the cab driver. He took off in the cab when the driver exited the vehicle.

No one was injured during this robbery. The cab was later located by police abandoned at a gas station in the 2100 block of 52 Street S.E.

Police have charged 20-year-old Evan Thomas Trotchie with a handful of offences including breach of probation, robbery, theft under $5,000, theft of a motor vehicle.
