UPDATE: The August 22 Jon Bon Jovi concert in Stanley Park has been cancelled.
In a statement, Bon Jovi Tours Inc. said the band was ready and willing to perform in Vancouver on Saturday, but local promoter Paper Rain Performances “has proven unable to guarantee a properly-produced event.”
They went to say that questions about refunds should be directed to Paper Rain Performances, but they are still hoping to secure a future date.
Vancouver Park Board’s acting general manager Jonathan Snoek said, “the organizers did not have the required City permits for the concert in place as of today.” He went on to say that the Park Board “provided the initial approval for the event and made every effort to assist organizers in meeting our protocols in the past months.”
On Tuesday, Runaway Tours announced Bon Jovi will perform a private show in Vancouver for a small group of fans who purchased a travel package to see his Vancouver show.
“Although Stanley Park has been cancelled, Jon takes his commitments seriously and still plans to play a small, acoustic show on Saturday for Runaway Tours customers who purchased the travel package.” said Runaway Tours in a statement.

VANCOUVER – It is confirmed! Rock superstar Jon Bon Jovi will be playing a concert in Stanley Park this summer.
He will play at Brockton Field and will be backed by Jersey-band Kings of Suburbia.
There will be 14,000 tickets available and they will range from $39.95 to $595 for a VIP package. Due to limited access for vehicles, concert-goers will have to walk or take shuttles to get to the viewing area.
Tickets will go on sale June 20.
After teasing the announcement on the Urban Forest website, many guessed it would be a Bon Jovi concert, due to the way the artist is posed in the background picture of the website. It referenced another Bon Jovi photo below.
