Search teams are trying to recover the body of a boater after scouring the north end of Pitt Lake.
A swift water rescue team and the RCMP were sent to the area Monday afternoon after receiving a call about a single-boat accident.
Officials are still piecing together exactly what happened, but there are reports a jet boat may have flipped with several people inside.
Two people ended up in the water. It is not clear if they were wearing life jackets.
Coquitlam search and rescue believes one man may have been pinned under some logs and drowned.
Michael Coyle with Coquitlam SAR says the body was now been located.
The team started off this morning at 4:30 to recover it
“We sent two of our members, two members of Ridge Meadows SAR and two members of the RCMP to an area 10 kilometers up the upper Pitt River Valley to do the recovery.”
The crews are accessing the remote area by boat and 4x4s.
