A man has been taken into custody after a standoff in Surrey on Tuesday.
It happened at approximately 7:30 p.m. at a residence in the 8200-block of 134th St.
Police say a 34-year-old man walked into a residence of a family member, entering forcibly and without permission.
People inside immediately fled fearing for their safety and called police. The man stayed inside, damaging the interior and barricaded himself. Investigators say he was in possession of a weapon.
The man is a Surrey resident and is known to police.
Officers and a negotiator attended and talked to the man, who eventually came out of the residence and charges are now pending.
No one was injured during the standoff.
