Twenty-five-year-old Joshua Jayson Matechuk of Calgary was charged with second-degree murder after being arrested in a vehicle in northeast Calgary on Monday, when he was first charged with five firearm offences.

Investigators believe Conway met the man—who was known to him—in a parking lot close to where he was found deceased, and an altercation occurred which ended in him being shot.

Matechuk is set to appear in court on Thursday, April 23.

Conway’s death was Calgary’s eighth murder of 2015.
