VANCOUVER – A temporary zipline could be coming to Queen Elizabeth Park this summer as a pilot project, if the Vancouver Park Board approves of the initiative.
Queen Elizabeth Park, which is home to the Bloedel Conservatory, is turning 75 years old this summer. It is the highest point in Vancouver at 152 metres above sea level and has a spectacular view of the park, city and the North Shore mountains.
Greenheart International approached the Vancouver Park Board to set up the zipline, which would operate from a temporary launch tower on the west side of the Bloedel Conservatory. It would travel over the quarry garden for about 190 metres and finish on the southwest side.
If approved it would open from late May through September. The cost to ride the zipline would likely range from $15 to $20.
North Vancouver has already approved a slip and slide for residents and visitors to coincide with Car Free Day on Aug. 22.
