NLL rallies behind Edmonton Rush goalie as his girlfriend battles cancer

WATCH ABOVE: The team and the league are supporting an Edmonton Rush player, whose girlfriend is battling cancer again. Kevin Karius reports.

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Rush have battled their way to a 10 – 5 record so far this season in the National Lacrosse League, good for first place in the West Division.

But the team is also battling for someone else: Michelle Fines. Fines is the girlfriend of Rush goalie Aaron Bold, and she is fighting cancer – for the second time. It’s brought the Rush team even closer together, and comes after Rush Coach Derek Keenan lost his wife Wendy to cancer in January.

“The support we have received is immense, we are so grateful,” said Bold.

Players and teams across the league have donated money to help with unexpected medical expenses. For more information, you can check out “Funds for Fines” at youcaring.com.
