Regina – The Canadian Western Agribition announced the future is still bright for next year’s rodeo.

The Canadian Cowboys Association’s decision to saddle up and move their finals to Swift Current in 2006 surprised the CWA.

However, the CWA says they will continue with the CCA Rodeo Finals this fall and will continue planning how fans will experience the rodeo in the future.

“You’ll see rodeo at the Agribition in the future. We’re going to spend the summer months sort of refining what that product looks like. There’s lots of rodeo options out there, but at this point, this fall is all about the CCA finals and we’re going to make it the best finals we’ve ever had,” said Marty Seymour, CEO of the CWA.

The CWA held their Annual General Meeting to discuss the financial results from 2014.

According to the Agribition, the organization’s profit from operations tallied to $614,746, which was consistent with results from the year before.

“Beef cattle are the anchor of the show. Increases in beef entries, cattle displays, and more youth presence in the barns helped make this the best show yet,” noted President, Reed Andrew.

Sales receipts from beef cattle were over $1.5 million compared to over $1.1 million in 2013.

Receipts were higher due to several record breaking breed sales related to high domestic beef cattle prices.

The 2014 Annual Report from the CCA stated: “There was nothing typical about 2014 as the combination of tight global beef and pork supply and higher beef demand propelled market prices for all animal types to unprecedented highs.”

Last year’s Agribition attracted a crowd of 122,000 people with 800 guests from over 70 different countries.

This year’s dates for the 2015 Canadian Western Agribition are November 23-28th.
