VANCOUVER – Elections B.C. says eight per cent of all eligible transit plebiscite ballots have been returned.
The new data shows more than 124,000 ballots have been sent in from 1.5 million registered voters. Vancouver residents have led the way with 17.8 per cent of all its eligible voters mailing in their packages. The City of Surrey is second, with 8.1 per cent of ballots returned.
The last day to mail in ballots is May 29.
The question is: “Do you support a new 0.5% Metro Vancouver Congestion Improvement Tax, to be dedicated to the Mayors’ Transportation and Transit Plan?”

If passed, the tax would fund light-rail lines in Surrey, a new Pattullo Bridge, an extension of the Millennium Line, and general improvements to B.C.’s roads and transit structures.
