EDMONTON — Edmonton police are asking for the public to come forward with information after a Quebec man was charged with fraud in the city.

On March 21, Police responded to an alleged credit card fraud at a retailer in west Edmonton. It was reported a man tried to use a non-functioning credit card to make a purchase, with the chip and then with the magnetic strip. A police investigation led to the arrest of 30-year-old Francis Roberge.

Edmonton police believe Francis Roberge used a counterfeit Quebec driver’s licence under a different name, along with non-functioning credit cards to make fraudulent purchases in the Edmonton area.

Police have since connected Roberge to previous suspicious incidents. Officers believe he used a counterfeit Quebec driver’s licence in the name “Claude Bergeron,” along with a number of non-functioning credit cards, which were used to make fraudulent purchases in the Edmonton-area in March.
