CALGARY – A damaged gas line in the city’s southeast industrial area forced the evacuation of three buildings on Thursday.
The Calgary Fire Department was called to the 5800 block of 9th Street S.E. around 9:30 a.m.
They say the buildings were evacuated as a precaution, impacting about 40 employees from a variety of businesses.
No injuries were reported, but the incident caused the closure of 9th Street S.E. at 58th Avenue S.E.
All evacuees returned to the building and streets were re-opened within a few hours, according to fire officials. The gas line has been blocked upstream of the break to prevent leaking, and repairs continued as of 2 p.m.
