Watch above: A man who lives just north of Saskatoon says his pet dog was stolen right off his property. As Calvin To reports, this is the third time in six years a dog has been stolen from his property.
SASKATOON — A man who lives just north of Saskatoon says his pet dog was stolen right off his property. It’s actually not the first time this has happened to him, either.
Brian Gibbs, a veterinarian who has worked at Central Animal Hospital for 45 years, says he’s had three dogs stolen from him within the past six years.
“Material things can be replaced, but you can’t replace something that’s alive that you’ve fallen in love with,” said Gibbs.
He said it happened right after a snowstorm. He found fresh tire tracks that were unfamiliar to him on his laneway.
It was reported to the RCMP, who say they are currently investigating. So far, nothing has turned up.

The Saskatoon SPCA recommends microchipping pets to ensure their owners’ information is attached to them in the event they are lost or stolen.
“It’s the easiest way for us to reunite lost animals, and the quickest way for us to reunite lost animals,” says Cathy Brin, the public relations coordinator for the Saskatoon SPCA.
Gibbs’ dog was microchipped, but it may never get to someone who can scan it. He is is keeping his hopes up, but doesn’t think the odds of finding his poodle Scarlett are high.
“We think that the probability is she got taken out of province to be sold in a bigger city someplace,” he said.
