WINNIPEG – Two people have been arrested and one suspect is still being targeted after RCMP seized a large amount of drugs, weapons and cash in Winnipeg.

The arrests were made following a seven month long investigation. A variety of charges were laid related to drug trafficking, proceeds of crime and weapons.

During the investigation police seized approximately 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, 27 ounces of meth, more than 900 grams of MDMA and two pounds of marijuana. Police also found around $100, 000 in cash, several weapons and a 2006 Lexus.

Two 23-year-old men from Winnipeg were arrested Thursday while a 32-year-old suspect is still on the run. RCMP say keeping the community safe is their top priority in this investigation.

“I think they should feel safer today than they were yesterday because we got all this stuff off the streets,” said Superintendent Len DiPino of the RCMP.

“Is there stuff similar to this still out on the streets? We can only assume there probably is, but at least we’ve hit one of the organized crime groups in the province,” DiPino added.

The two men arrested are in custody pending their first court appearance. RCMP continue the investigation.
